    Miata Meeting on 3/18/25

Attendees: Brian, Aaron, Tom, and Dick. Absent was Goran, Renee, and Brent

    Meeting notes

    • 1)     Baby watch for Goran – he is now the proud father of a daughter who was born on March 15.
    • 2)     Joint rally with the Mini-Cooper club occurred. Only 6 cars attended this event. Conditions were as advertised with parking. Tom led the rally and Brian assisted at the start. Club will not do this again as the parking situation is not good for Miata's; Dick will check on the Maple Syrup event in Parke County for next year.
    • 3)     Miata’s on Main events will occur at Big Woods on March 31 (Aaron will not make it)
    • 4)     Dick has been working with Richard and his first midweek event is set for April 10 in Zionsville. He has a list of questions for those who attend, and he plans on having one event per month.
    • 5)     Aaron shared that he would run the Tax Blue Rally route in the next few weeks and that the registration is open.
    • 6)     Dick reached out to Tom Lewis about a firm date for the Marietta Rally. Stay tuned for the final date.
    • 7)     Tom shared that 1 new member was added this week.
    • 8)     Total active members is 128
    • 9)     Dick to reach out to Alex about the business cards and get the files for the club.
    • 10)                         Carryover from the February meeting which we did not discuss:
    • a)     Aaron shared that for those with administrative rights that the software that the club uses, Wild Apricot will go to a 2 factor authorization in April.
    • b)    Brian to connect with Tom Lewis to get access to the Facebook page and he will continue to handle the Instagram page.
    • c)     Brian to post a letter about the luncheon.

    Miata Meeting on 2/17/25

Attendees: Brian, Goran, Aaron, Renee, Brent, and Dick. Absent was Tom.

    Meeting notes

    • 1)     Presidents luncheon at Georges – good attendance and having the give aways helped people have some fun. Had some opportunities with the food but Leah from Georges reached out to Dick twice to apologize about running out of food. Event lasted about 2 hours and people could take home food. Aaron will continue to work on having Toby plan and lead the event next year,
    • 2)     Joint rally with the Mini-Cooper club is set. We have 10 cars registered with a total of 18 people. Dick shared that he would add alternative directions to go directly into town rather than go to the Farm if the ground at the farm is too soft. The plan is to stop at Casey’s which is at the intersection of old 56 and new 56. Dick will try and make it but does not return from Florida until the evening of the previous day.
    • 3)     Aaron shared that he will update the rally in April and open it for registration.
    • 4)     Aaron reminded all that the club has a PO box at Staples in Avon and that he receives notifications when mail arrives to the PO box.
    • 5)     Aaron shared that for those with administrative rights that the software that the club uses, Wild Apricot will go to a 2 factor authorization in April.
    • 6)     Aaron will send a receipt for the 2 cars which were part of the door prizes for the luncheon.
    • 7)     Renee shared that she paid for the club insurance.
    • 8)     Renee is working on finalizing the financial report for 2024 and will have it completed by the end of the week. She will work with Aaron on getting the report shared.
    • 9)     Brian to connect with Tom Lewis to get access to the Facebook page and he will continue to handle the Instagram page.
    • 10)                        Brian to post a letter about the luncheon.

    Hello Everyone,

I'm Brian, the new Club President for this season! I wanted to start off by giving a hearty thank you and welcome to all our members, old and new, as we get ready to start this year's Miata season. I also want to highlight those who joined us for the President's Luncheon earlier this month! From the bottom of my heart, thank you!

Now, I'd also like to give a huge shout-out to our amazing team of Officers, whose keen administrative skill keeps the club running like a well-oiled Mazda B-engine. Strong leadership is key to any organization, so we'd like to invite any and all members interested in helping lead the club to reach out here or even just strike up a conversation with us at any of our club events!

Thank you once again for making this club what it is! I'm honored to serve as your president for 2025!

    Sincerely,

    Brian Long

Out of an abundance of caution due to snow and hazardous road conditions, we have decided to postpone the President's Luncheon and Annual Club Meeting.

The event is tentatively rescheduled for Saturday, January 25, at George's Neighborhood Grill (6935 Lake Plaza Drive) at the originally planned time.

NOTE: We will have confirmation from George's late Saturday night and will update you accordingly via email.

Thank you for your understanding, and we can’t wait to see you on January 25!

If you are unable to join us, please login to the club website and cancel your meal reservation. This will generate a credit to your membership account. Once the dust settles, we will reach out and request how you would like to handle the refund. Your choice would be back to your credit card or a credit on your account to use for membership renewals or club items like a hat or shirt!

Please reach out with any questions to: webmaster@indymiata.org

    Stay safe,

    Indy Miata Club Board

Due to the weather forecasting temperatures near 100 and high humidity on both Friday and Saturday and only 2 Miatas confirming today, I've decided to cancel this year's Marietta event.

If timing allows, I may try to reschedule the weekend towards fall.  Watch the club website for additional info!

Happy March and I hope everyone is enjoying the warmer weather. We have two events coming up this month to start the year off.

    Miatas on Main

Our monthly Miatas on Main meetup will be resuming on Monday, March 27th at the Big Woods in Speedway. I'm excited to see everyone's cars out of winter hibernation for conversation and dinner that evening.

    Service Opportunity at Sheltering Wings
    Save the date, March 25

I think one of my favorite things about driving the Miata is the way a lot of folks faces light up when they see it. These little cars have a knack for spreading joy and as a club we have the opportunity to do the same here in our hometown of Indianapolis. We are making an effort as a club to get into the habit of giving back to our community.

To that end, we made some monetary contributions to local charitable organizations near the end of last year. We want to further that effort by getting hands-on and helping out those in need around our city. Indy Miata Club will be volunteering at Sheltering Wings in Danville, which provides emergency shelter for survivors of domestic abuse.

As of right now, the plan is to help them clean up their landscaping for the spring but there will be other tasks available if you are not comfortable with that work. We will have more specifics available by mid-March but for now please register and block out a few hours that morning to make a difference. Let's show the same love to our community that we have for our cars!

Wishing you the best regards and many zoom-zooms,

    Alex Griffith
    President

    Greetings fellow Miata enthusiasts,

I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and discuss the coming year. I am thrilled to be serving in the position of president at the club for 2023 and can’t wait to enjoy some top-down motoring with you all. 2022 has been a great year of camaraderie and events for us. Our club enjoyed some healthy growth and great turnout at some events – at our visit to Astro Autosport we had 41 cars in attendance! We hope to carry that momentum going into next year so we can enjoy these cars with more people.

That said, we do have a need for some help managing the club. The Vice President and Treasurer roles are currently unfilled for next year. These are not cumbersome positions by any means, but we certainly need a couple of motivated individuals to help out in this regard. If you are passionate about the club and willing to give us a hand, please get in touch with us at webmaster@indymiata.org and we’d love to talk through things with you.

Finally, we are also planning to incorporate some community outreach into the club. We are starting things out with $1,000 donations to Gleaners Food Bank and Sheltering Wings respectively this holiday season. We’re also planning to have club volunteer events next year for us to get more involved in-person. If there are any charitable organizations that are near to your heart or you are interested in helping to organize outreach events, be sure to let us know!

I hope to see everyone at the Luncheon and Club Meeting on January 14th – don’t forget to register if you haven’t done so already.

    Let’s make 2023 a great year!

    - Alex Griffith
