    Miata Meeting on 7/27/26

Attendees: Clyde, Robert, Renee, Brent, Aaron, Toby, and Dick.

    Absent: Tom

    Meeting notes

    1. Mr. Robert (Bob) Wallace joined us and took the oath to be this year's VP. Welcome aboard!

    2. Indy Cars and coffee was on June 27. Andrew coordinated this event. Thank you Andrew.

    3. Miata’s on Main for June was held at Hubler Mazda in Greenwood. Thank you Clyde for coordinating this.

    4. July’s event was held at Renee’s on July 18. Good turn out with several new club members. Lots of good food and car talk. Thank you Renee.

    5. Richard’s next brunch outing will be in August. He is finalizing the plans.  This year marks the 25th year!

    6. Aaron shared that he is looking at the last 2 weekends of October for the Hidden Drives Rally. This year

    7. Give back to the community event. Clyde reached out to the contact for the Indy based Habitat group. He is waiting to hear back from them. Discussed volunteering for other organizations including Gleener foods. Still a work in progress. Discussed Million Meal support, Wheeler Mission and Second Helpings. Toby will learn more about opportunities later this week with Second Helpings.

    8. Clyde to investigate, to learn more about an Autocross event. Dick and Clyde will work on getting something posted on this.

    9. Clyde shared that the teenage driving class that someone at the Presidents Luncheon spoke to him about is not being offered this year. There is no state funding this year.

    10. Had some discussion about making a donation to a local non-profit. Will discuss next month.

    11. Last month Clyde asked how we could get more women involved. Toby volunteered to do some investigative work on this at the next few events. Her investigative reporting starting with the recent event at Renee’s indicated that the women tend to attend non-rally events. More investigation will continue.

    12. Discussion was started about allowing non-Miata drivers to be part of the club. Discussion centered around allowing other Mazda cars to be a member. More to come on this as a change to the bi-laws would need to occur when the group is together which we talked about happening at the Presidents Day brunch in January

    13. Still looking for more rallies, so please contact the club leadership if you want to rerun an old route from the clubs website or one that you have created.

    14. Aaron provided Bob with Administrative access to the Wild Apricot software.

    15. The next meeting will be August 17 @ 8pm on TEAMS. Anyone interested in attending should reach out to Clyde.

What a great day at the track to learn about the Whelen MX-5 race series! We spent the afternoon with Erin Cechal who is an account manager with the Sunday Group Management. She was our point of contact and really came through for us.

We were able to see the cars run on the track and had full access to the garage area. We had total access to the track. We spent time touching and for some even getting into an actual race car.

We were able to speak to a former driver who is now a very passionate owner. We spent time in one of the parts trailers and heard from who manages the spare parts for the race series. We wrapped up the day with Erin in the hospitality room.

The cars return in September for a weekend of racing. We will try and partner with Skillman and/or Hubler to have a car coral at the track.
