Board Meeting Notes for August 2026
Miata Meeting on 8/17/26
Attendees: Clyde, Robert, Renee, Brent, Tom, Toby, and Dick.
Absent: Aaron
Meeting notes:
-
Richard’s next brunch outing will be on August 18.
-
Jeff has a rally planned for this Saturday to go to Brookville Reservoir for lunch.
-
Annual Artomobilia ALL day event in Carmel is scheduled for August 29.
-
Renee has Miatas on Main scheduled for August 31 in Geist.
-
Brent has Miatas on Main for September. He looked into the restaurant at Rahal's place and determined that it is more pricey than what we usually expect members to spend for dinner, He did share that there are Cars and Coffee events there and that he will get more information about them and the club can look into adding one of them to the event calendar.
-
Clyde shared that the teenage driving class that someone at the Presidents Luncheon spoke to him about is now being offered. He sent Dick the information and Dick will get it posted.
-
Dick shared that he is having no luck in getting a commitment from the track about the Miata series there in September. He will now just post general information about the race on the website.
-
Discussed making a donation to a local non-profit. It was agreed that the club would make a donation to the Red Cross and a food pantry in Franklin called Interchurches.
-
A few months ago Clyde asked how we could get more women involved. Toby volunteered to do some investigative work on this at the next few events. Her investigative reporting starting with the recent event at Renee’s indicated that the women tend to attend non-rally events. More investigation will continue.
-
Discussion was started about allowing non-Miata drivers to be part of the club. Discussion centered around allowing other Mazda cars to be a member. Clyde reviewed the bi-laws and determined that the bi-laws reference Miata’s specifically 7 times. At this time no changes will be made to the bi-laws. The software that the club uses has a restricted flag that only shows those events to club members. We have used this for events in the past. The specific points discussed were:
-
Miata’s on Main - should be open to all
-
Brunches - should be open to all
-
Any club event such as the recent one at Renee’s and the Presidents luncheon need to be restricted as the club’s membership fees supplement part of the cost.
-
Rally’s - should be up to the discretion of the Rally Master
-
Tom provided an update on membership:180 members, 123 active, 52 renewal overdue, 46 lapsed, and in the last 30 days we have added 5 new members and had 6 renewals.
-
Tom has stopped mailing out the new membership name tags and now provides them at the club's events.
-
Still looking for more rallies, so please contact the club leadership if you want to rerun an old route from the clubs website or one that you have created.
-
Clyde will work on a date for the Presidents luncheon in January.
-
The next meeting will be September 21 @ 8pm on TEAMS. Anyone interested in attending should reach out to Clyde.
